Pope Francis will hold a video conference with five handicapped children from different countries on February 5, 11 p.m. (Manila time).
The videoconference is the closing part of an international symposium being held on Vatican grounds – the Pontiff’s pet project to promote education. It is organized by Scholas Ocurrentes, a worldwide network of schools.
According to cruxnow.com, the Pope asked the headmasters of Scholas Occurrentes, Enrique Palmeyro and José María del Corral, to “offer students a ‘bailout’ through learning.”
“He’s convinced that the world is in crisis, and that the solution will come through education,” del Corral said.
Cruxnow.com reported that this will be the second time the pope takes part in a Hangout to promote education. The first was on September 2014 when he spoke with five highschool students to launch a crowd-funding website for educational projects that promote interaction among schools with different social challenges.
Other notable personalities to hold a Google Hangouts conference are US President Barrack Obama, presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, football star David Beckham, etc.
India Prime Minster Narendra Modi is the first public figure to use the Google Hangout app to reach out to the audience.
