Magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits Surigao del Sur

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit Surigao del Sur at around 4 p.m., February 6.
Its epicenter is at 9.54 degrees north, 126.38 degrees east – 36 kilometers north, 36 degrees East of Cortes, with a 5 kilometer depth of focus and a tectonic origin.
The earthquake was felt in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur (intensity 3),  Surigao City, Butuan City (intensity 2), Cabalian, Southern Leyte, and Tacloban City (intensity 1).
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, no damages were recorded. Aftershocks are expected.
